Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Who owns the data?
A. Clients always have access to their own data. Qualified research entities interested in accessing the entire data base can do so through the Research Advisory Committee via the established protocols which are found on the ProCare™ Research website at www.procareresearch.com
Q. How are requests for research purposes handled?
A. Any qualified research entity requesting data will do so through the Research Advisory Committee. Accepted research proposals require a written consent from client(s) to opt in or out of presented projects.
Q. Who owns the intellectual property of PRISM™?
A. PRISM™ is the intellectual property of ProCare™ Research, LLC. PRISM™ can be licensed for use through a licensing agreement and subscription agreement.
Q. Is the PRISM™ data HIPAA compliant?
A. Data entering the data warehouse is de-identified and therefore HIPAA compliant. In cases where PRISM™ is integrated with a practice management system, a business associate’s agreement may be necessary.
Q. Integration means?
A. Integration plans are based on individual systems and needs of a practice. Integration ties into practice management / EHR systems and is based on individual situations. The goal is to be as efficient as possible, to reduce redundancies and the burden of data gathering in the clinic.
Q. Is PRISM™ PQRS compatible?
A. We are currently working on integrating PQRS requirements into our Physical Therapy PHA. We will be self nominating for registry status in 2012, but currently the pain initiatives are process driven and not outcomes driven so there is no way to incorporate PQRS initiatives at this time. We are working with pain societies to develop measures for pain so that true outcomes can be captured, at which point the measures will be able to be incorporated into the PHA.
Q. Will data be used for commercial purposes?
A. In the event that a request for data from a for-profit business (ie: pharm, DME)is accepted by the Research Advisory Committee, clients will be given an opportunity to opt out of the project. Payment for data will be collected and distributed through ProCare™ Research based on the budget established through the commercial entity.
